On Happiness II

In the previous article we explored the idea that happiness is an inside job. In other words, happiness is something we carry within—and based on that inner state, we either notice “lucky” breaks and opportunities in life, or we miss them.

I also wrote about a principle that says even if it doesn’t feel true yet (even if you don’t currently believe you’re a particularly lucky person), you should “fake it”. Tell yourself a new story until your brain adopts it as a belief.

In this article, I want to show you something interesting…

Let’s talk a bit more about how it works. I recall an audio program by Anthony Robbins where he tells a story about a couple at one of his seminars who declared they would win a large lottery prize. Not pocket change, but a serious amount—enough for a comfortable retirement or a new house. They announced this in front of Tony and, after the seminar, they told everyone around them the same thing. They not only claimed they would win—they started acting as if they had already won. They told friends they had won and fully adopted the belief as their own.

Of course: if you saturate the brain enough, it starts to believe. Something inside shifts and changes—and the win often follows.

Here’s another story worth mentioning:

A woman familiar with FasterEFT went to Las Vegas with friends. Naturally, the city invites a bit of gambling, so they decided to have some fun and try their luck.

On the plane, something curious happened. Throughout the flight, our heroine practiced a special acupressure-style routine known in FasterEFT as “tapping for metabolism.” She knew it well because she had successfully used it to lose weight.

Her “burn” wasn’t very fast before, but with this tapping she noticed food wasn’t stored the same way and she began to slim down.

Her friends looked at her strangely as she tapped the whole flight and repeated: “I want to win—I am winning!” They had a good laugh. But what happened? She won money every day at the casino. She wasn’t chasing huge jackpots, but the amounts were far from negligible. After three days, she left several thousand dollars ahead.

On the last day before heading to the casino, her friends begged her to tap for them too—they had clearly realized that what she was doing had an effect.

Another time, Robert G. Smith decided to try this while waiting at an airport. He said he tapped the same way, walked up to a slot machine, fed it a single pound, and gave it a spin. On the first try he won £50. He’s not a gambler, so he took the win and stopped.

Would you like to try this special tapping style? Go for it—it’s simple. Although it was originally designed to speed up metabolism, it also works like an affirmation technique. All you need to do is follow this straightforward routine:

Affirmation Technique

  1. Karate point (side of the hand, as in classic EFT) — say: I want to win.
  2. Collarbone point — say: I am winning.
  3. Repeat continuously: I want to win, I am winning… I want to win, I am winning…
  4. Then use all standard FasterEFT points and say: It is so—naturally and easily.
  5. Finally, grab your wrist, take a deep breath in and out, and say: “Peace.”
  6. As a crucial last step, imagine it as already real and feel it as if it’s happening now. Picture the lottery drawing your numbers on TV and feel great; or imagine yourself receiving the keys to your dream house or car.

How often should you repeat it?

As often as needed. If you want to use affirmations, it helps to do this every day for at least 30 minutes. You can split it up (e.g., six times for five minutes) throughout the day.

Also watch what you say to yourself the rest of the day. Don’t spend time affirming one thing and then spend the day contradicting it in thought and speech.

Use this tapping style freely for anything you want to change—
for example: weight loss (“I want to lose weight, I am losing weight”), or luck (“I want to be lucky, I am lucky”).

Do You Really Deserve It?

Many of us secretly hope and wish for something—but when asked, “Do you feel you deserve it?” the answer is often “No” or “I don’t know.” And then we claim we can’t really win or receive anything “just like that.”

So why wish for anything if you think you don’t deserve it?

You do! You deserve anything you truly desire.

Why? Because at the deepest level, we are all one. We are made of the same energy that created the universe, galaxies, and stars. We are part of a vast, dynamic whole—and there is enough for everyone. Whatever your limiting beliefs about what you deserve, or whether it’s right to have something when others don’t…

Work around it like this: If others don’t have enough, wish for more—and share.

When Anthony Robbins wanted to provide for his family and also help others, he created a foundation that feeds over a million people worldwide around Thanksgiving. Do something good—help yourself so you’ll have more power to help others.

Try this technique daily. Start making your world better so that more people—including you—can have what they desire. And don’t be afraid to give, because an old truth says: Give, and you shall receive.
